Online blended training is a variation of web-based training that features a live training support facilitator, a training coach, that supports the delivery of a self-guided, self-paced training program made up of a blend of technologies. Technologies include video, audio, desktop sharing, software simulations, etc. By not relying on a single technology, the training is better able to respond to individual learning styles. All training media have advantages and limitations. A combination of different media allows training to capitalize on the strengths of some media while minimalizing the weaknesses of others.

Learners work through an assigned training module that comprises standard web-based content supported by one or more of the technologies noted above. At the outset of each module and at various points throughout the module the learner may be directed through content to contact the coach. The coach will provide interactive training support in the form of questions and answers, clarification of concepts or learning review. As the training will be web-based, the learner has easy access to ongoing refresher training or quick reference.
